The Transgender Institute® (TTI) is a collaborative and comprehensive center that with its partners, offers a full spectrum of  therapeutic, psychiatric, psychological, medical, surgical, and endocrine care. We also offer vocal training, movement, social presentation, including fashion and many other forms of aesthetic care for the transgender person.

It is a holistic and pluralistic process which includes many different therapeutic approaches and affords the client the opportunity to look deeply at themselves and their own issues, including Gender Dysphoria and conditions co-morbid to Gender Dysphoria, such as depression, anxiety, bipolar etc. 

We have been serving the transgender population with respect and dedication for more than 20 years.

Yes, we routinely serve clients worldwide using virtual technology. 

Yes, we have worked with thousands of transgender women and men over the years. 

Yes. We provide individualized services dependent on our clients’ unique gender connections and presentations. We recognize that non-binary is a term some individuals use to describe their gender presentation that does not fall into one of the two gender categories, man or woman.

Yes, we believe that including families is very helpful and for children and teens essential. 

Yes, we work across the entire age spectrum, literally from three years to 83 years-of-age. Each developmental stage requires a different approach.

We believe that being transgender has a biological/genetic basis, which may cause severe emotional distress/ even suicide. It is often exacerbated by difficult situations and life challenges. We follow the most current, scientific research on the subject.  Additionally, we have undertaken two of our own research projects, which we believe will add to the field and assist other scientists and clinicians, as this field grows. 

 

No, we work as a team with our clients and listen carefully to their ideas and goals for therapy.  We believe gatekeeping is unethical.  Although we do provide letters to surgeons and endocrinologists for hormones and surgical reassignment, because surgeons and insurance companies require them, we do not keep clients in therapy for an inordinate amount of time.

Yes, we provide all of them, including hormone, surgery and carry letters, when in the patient’s best interest. We also provide therapeutic animal placement and surgery letters for weight loss.

 Yes, we are one of the few practices that can guide you through the legal process.  It is not necessary to contact legal assistance for this service. 

We are familiar with the diagnostic criteria of the DSM-V and ICD-10 and can differentiate between symptoms of gender dysphoria and other diagnoses.  We are schooled in diagnosing various disorders and can refer to our psychiatrists, who work with transgender clients and specialize in prescribing medication, if necessary. 

Yes, we are widely known advocates for the community.  We appear regularly on TV, radio, in print, and in trainings for schools, corporations, and agencies. Our director was co-executive producer for two of our reality shows.  TTI will be featured in an LGBT documentary to be aired in about a year.
